Montiba

Montiba is a private, co-educational, and secular school that focuses on the support and growth of all its students in a creative and demanding way, valuing each student individually within a collective setting. Montiba boasts a 14,000 m² forest area, providing a space to create and learn in a practical, enjoyable, and inclusive manner. We cover all educational stages, from preschool (age 3) to the completion of high school (age 18). For us, excellence, creativity, rigor, and respect go hand in hand when it comes to teaching, as we strive to help each student reach their full potential on an individual level.
Languages are of vital importance to us, with Catalan and Spanish serving as the school's primary languages, and native English-speaking teachers starting classes in small groups from age 3.
In addition, sports are one of our defining features, as they promote group cohesion, the creation of healthy habits, and improvements in cognitive function, memory, efficiency, and attention. For these reasons, every grade enjoys one hour of sports daily.

Preschool - A stage that marks the beginning of school life - Play, respect, autonomy, and self-awareness.
We work with a wide variety of methodologies, sometimes promoting autonomous work, other times small group work, other times active listening as well as dynamic group participation, always based on topics related to them (the family, the body, the animals, jobs…). Some of the directed activities that we should highlight are: Daily classes in English, stroke development, we introduce mathematics, we take great care of everything they learn, always trying to go to the primary source.

Elementary Education - A stage of many changes - Creativity, written and oral expression, enthusiasm for learning, and questioning. The primary stage is characterized by the following: One hour of English per day in small groups of 12 students, we work on communication and negotiation skills from listening and respect, we promote research capacity, we encourage problem solving, analysis of the environment through geometry, and understanding of basic concepts, one hour of sport daily, the arts (Music, Plastic Arts and Theatre) are core disciplines, we instill the pleasure of reading books with mandatory weekly library sessions, experimental approach, we seek balance, flexibility and customization, we use the game as an educational tool, we use methodologies that promote individual and collective learning, we promote cross-subject activities

Middle Education -It's time to demand more from them and encourage responsibility- Rigor, curiosity, self-discipline, and teamwork. Lesson activities: We emphasize the study of various subjects, we promote students' ability to direct their own learning, evaluation is still a process, we promote responsibility through concrete actions, Montiba Student Association, we use technology as a support tool.

High School -We bring them closer to the professional world to refine their interests- Rigor, professionalism, specialization, effort. We work with a wide variety of methodologies, sometimes promoting autonomous work, other times small group work, other times active listening as well as dynamic group participation, always based on topics related to them (the family, the body, the animals, jobs…). Some of the directed activities that we should highlight are: we offer the three modalities of Spanish Baccalaureate, we consolidate discipline, study and work habits, we complement training with extracurricular activities, we continue to consider that evaluation is a process.

Facilities

Montiba is formed by Món (which means world in Catalan), Tibidabo and Barcelona.
We are located at the top of the wonderful mountain of Tibidabo, from where we enjoy incredible views of the city and Collserola. Here we will create a world of our own where children will learn surrounded by 14,000 m2 of private forest and nature.

We have a large building of 4.166m2 and a modernist tower by Puig i Cadafalch that will house the high school courses. They are currently being remodeled by TurullSorensen architects who are going to turn this wonderful place into a multipurpose school, aesthetic and in constant dialogue with its environment.

Our facilities include a dining room with its own kitchen*, laboratories and sports courts.

*We offer balanced home-cooked meals.
We also offer the option of bringing food from home.

The classrooms have views of nature and natural light through large windows. You will have the possibility to communicate, thus generating a relationship between other students and disciplines.

Student Support

What learning needs the school can support

We seek the integral development of the person, understanding that there are as many models of success as there are children. Through a balance between humanistic, scientific and artistic aspects, sports, constant contact with cultural references, experimentation and criticism, we seek to create people capable of thinking for themselves, relating some ideas to others, building new ones and participating actively in the world. Because for us, educating is much more than transmitting information; it is giving students a cultural treasure that they can use in all areas of their lives. This allows us to meet the different needs of each student. We have different specialists capable of following up students with special needs. Likewise, our method allows students with high abilities to find their own pace and to continue advancing and developing their full potential.

What support staff are available

The school's primary school director specializes in psycho-pedagogy and children with autism, as well as in childhood pathologies. We also have the extra support of a therapist who accompanies a child with special needs.
